STUDENTS RECEIVED SCHOLARSHIP FROM A LOCAL COMPANY

The puertorican company Rock Solid Technologies, Inc., grant scholarships to three students from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, whom also are part of the teamwork for the summer.

The youngster that received the scholarship of $4,000 each one ($1,500 for personal expenses) were: Jonathan Luna, from the Computer Engineering Department; Fernando Figueroa, from the Information System Department in the Business Administration Faculty; and Yaritza Figueroa, from Accounting Department in Business Administration.

The engineer Angel L. Pérez, general manager of Rock Solid Technologies, Inc., gave the scholarship in a ceremony yesterday, in the Dean's office at the campus, Jorge Iván Vélez Arocho. "For the first time the, since we started the program, we awarded a scholarship in the Accounting Department. Yaritza was selected for being an outstanding student, with dedication and responsible. Also, Jonathan and Fernando for their technical capacity and dedication, said Pérez, Mayagüez alumni.

Explained in written communication that the scholarship's presentation- for sevenths consecutive year- reaffirms the interest and compromise that has this company to keep the human capital in Puerto Rico and contribute to the economic development in the Island.

In addition, the dean Vélez Arocho, highlighted the relevance that companies turned to the University to offers the students this kind of opportunities. "We valued enormously the strategic partners that have been with our institution for long term and Rock Solid for been this type of company. We appreciate the support they have gave to the Colegio and the investment in this youngsters; added Vélez Arrocho, dean in the RUM.

As part of the selection process, the students were interviewed by the management team of Rock Solid Technologies, dedicated to the development and implementation of applications, and consulting of information systems.
