Perhaps even more important is the demand for a holistic community participation solution. In the What Citizens Want report, a survey of U.S. citizens conducted by Government Technology’s Center for Digital Government, ELGL, and Rock Solid, the top three services that local government should prioritize based on the needs and wants of their communities are:
- Pothole and street repair requests,
- 311 (service requests and information), and
- City or county government meetings
Cities are taking notice of what their residents really want. Rock Solid and PrimeGov were recently selected by the City of San Antonio, Texas to provide a joint solution for their new Resident Connection Platform.
San Antonio sought a single portal that would allow residents in this city of 1.58 million people to initiate city services, communicate with elected officials, apply to sit on boards or commissions, and take part in city council or other public meetings virtually. In addition, the city wanted to provide one view for the staff of open items for residents across all city departments. Together, Rock Solid and PrimeGov will help San Antonio achieve their vision of “a resident centric approach to engagement with the City of San Antonio.”

Tom has spent over 20 years in the government technology industry, including as the co-founder and former CEO of Granicus. He also sits on the Board of Directors for a number of technology companies, including Propylon and Ascendify. We are excited to have Tom Spengler, who is passionate about improving government through technology and has helped bring several leading products to market, as the new Rock Solid CEO!
Rick Brown, current CEO of Rock Solid, will be staying on board as well. He will serve as Executive Chairman of the Board of Rock Solid and as CEO of Rock Solid ERP.
